James Henry Gwaltney, 75, of 2307 Oak St., Virginia Beach, died March 24, 1995, in Cape Coral, Fla.
A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the son of the late Jessie Henry and Bettie Nelms Gwaltney. Mr. Gwaltney had retired from Newport News Shipbuilding. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Suffolk.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Harrell Gwaltney; a daughter, Frances G. Jarabak of Hampton; a son, James Henry Gwaltney Jr. of Portsmouth; two sisters, Eloise G. Shaw of Norfolk and Dorothy G. Beale of Courtland; one brother, Robert Allen Gwaltney of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Lynn G. Bullock of Chesapeake, Amy G. Yurksaitis of Jacksonville, N.C., and Todd James Gwaltney of Newport News; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Holly Lawn Cemetery by Dr. Alan Felumlee. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 202 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
