Richard D. Maher, 69, of 3336 Glen Eden Quay in Middle Plantation, formerly of Clarendon Hills, Ill., died March 27, 1995, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Ruby C.; father of R. Michael, Daniel C. and James D. Maher of Virginia Beach, Susan Maher Neiman and Donald F. Neiman of West Des Moines, Iowa, Robert K. Maher of Fontana, Wis., and Patrick J. and Kathy Maher of Delavan, Wis. Mr. Maher has eight grandchildren and is the brother of Cleo Collins of Bellaire Estates, Fla., and Donald R. Maher of Clearwater Beach, Fla.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was the retired vice president of Sunbeam Corporation, Oak Brook, Ill.; former president of Equity Industries, Virginia Beach, and was president of Themans Tool Group, Inc. of Virginia Beach. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and The Order of Kentucky Colonel.
Visitation will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church on Little Neck Road, Thursday, March 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Mass will follow at 7 p.m. by Father James Noto. Entombment will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Princess Anne Memorial Park, after which the family will receive friends and associates at the family residence.
