Maxine E. Butts of the 2600 block of Blueberry Bank, died March 26, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Butts was born in Norfolk and was retired. She was a member of New Rising Sun Baptist Church, the Floral Club and The Helping Hand Club.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Bennie L. Butts Sr.; two daughters, Shirley Mae Alston of Gaithersburg, Md. and Rosa Mae McKenzie of Sarasota, Fla.; six sons, Bennie L. Butts Jr. of Virginia Beach, Michael Butts of Alexandria, Va., Phillip Butts and Jeffrey Butts, both of Portsmouth, Howard Butts and Bernard Butts, both of Chesapeake; her mother, Susie E. Crimes of Norfolk; three sisters, Margaret Scott of Chesapeake, Jean Upshur and Julia Alston, both of Norfolk; five brothers, Wilbert Upshur and Bernard Upshur, both of Norfolk, Maxwell Upshur and Melvin Epps of Chesapeake and Carlton Upshur of Virginia Beach; a host of grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; an uncle; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in New Rising Sun Baptist Church by Dr. Zack Pippins Jr. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family at the residence. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
