Roy ``Sonny'' Barnes Jr., 64, of the 100 block of Sequoia Road, died March 27, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Barnes was a native of Norfolk and was retired as production shop planner from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church; Churchland Masonic Lodge (NU)276; Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies; Khedive Temple; Portsmouth Shrine Club; Suffolk Shrine Club; and St. Andrew's Methodist Men. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Frances R. Barnes; a daughter, Deborah Barnes of Virginia Beach; a son, Glen Alan Barnes of Portsmouth; his father, Roy Glen Barnes Sr. of Portsmouth; two sisters, Winnie Hensley of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jackie Mosley of Chesapeake; and three grandsons.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Olive Branch Cemetery, with Masonic rites, by the Rev. Joseph G. Savinskey. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the National Kidney Foundation or to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church.
