EDWARD SMITH

Edward Smith, 70, of the 2400 block of E. Virginia Beach Blvd., died March 26, 1995, in the Hampton VA Hospital.

Mr. Smith, a native of Norfolk, was retired and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, European African Eastern Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon and Army Occupation Medal (Germany).

Survivors include two brothers, Calvin Bass of Norfolk and Leroy Smith of California; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; nieces; nephews; three sisters-in-law; and other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Keith Cook. Burial will be in Hampton National Cemetery with military honors. At the family's request, no viewing please. T.E. Cooke-Twilight Funeral Home, Suffolk, is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends will assemble at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Bass, 5563 Brickell Road, Norfolk, at 9 a.m. for the procession to the church.
