Clyde H. Burnett Jr. has retired as assistant superintendent for business and finance, school officials have announced.
Burnett, who began work with the system 35 years ago as a business teacher, had held the assistant superintendent's job since 1986.
``He put the budget for the coming school year to bed and told the superintendent he thought it was time for him to retire,'' schools spokesman George Raiss said.
Burnett's retirement will be effective July 1, Raiss said, but he worked his last day March 22. Raiss said Burnett left early to use accumulated vacation time. Until a new person can be hired, R. Daniel Seacrist, senior director of accounting, will serve as acting assistant superintendent, Raiss said. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
