The year was 1977 when Art Kurzenhauser was among the many
volunteers who braved the rain during the Eastern Amateur golf
tournament. Art served as a ball spotter. The winner of that '77
Eastern was Buddy Alexander, golf coach at Georgia Southern. The
tournament was played at Sleepy Hole, the only Eastern not played at
Elizabeth Manor.
