Mamie Butler Beale, 100, of the 7400 block of Elwood Road, a homemaker, died April 4, 1995, in East Pavilion, Franklin.
Mrs. Beale was born in Isle of Wight County. She was the daughter of the late Ada Pauline Hedgepeth Butler and James Harrison Butler and was the widow of Oscar Lee Beale. She was a member of Holland United Church of Christ and a former member of Holland Woman's Club and Carrsville Homemakers Club. She was a daughter of the Sons of the Confederacy.
Survivors include two daughters, Gladys B. Rose of Windsor and Nellie B. Bateman of Smithfield; two sons, J. Howard Beale and Marshall A. Beale, both of Suffolk; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert F. Cofield Jr. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Holland United Church of Christ, 6733 S. Quay Road, Suffolk, Va. 23437.
