James L. Lester, 79, of the 8000 block of E. Glen Road, a retired electrician with the Civil Service, died April 5, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.
He was a native of Roanoke, Va., and was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and the Elizabeth Masonic Lodge (NU)34.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Mary H. Lester; two daughters, Jean Craft of Virginia Beach and Barbara Lester of Norfolk; and one grandson, Kyle Craft of Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by a son, James L. Lester Jr., who gave his life for his country during the Vietnam War.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Charles K. Blalock. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to a Volunteer Rescue Squad of one's choice.
