COMMENT ON CITY BUDGET

Now's the time for citizens to let City Council know what they think about the proposed operating budget for the city.

The first public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The second and final opportunity for citizens to speak will be when the budget goes on the agenda on April 25.

In addition, the public will be able to attend public work sessions on the budget at 5 p.m. Monday and again at 5 p.m. on April 18 and 24. While the public cannot speak at these work sessions, the public can get a lot of information and perhaps some understanding of the proposed budget.

Often people have opinions about taxes and expenditure but do not take the time to let council know how they feel. Meanwhile, a small group of council watchers seems to be the only source of public comment.

While it's good to have any input, it would be better for council to hear from a broader segment of the population.

Tuesday is the time. Plan to attend the public hearing and make your voice count in the city. by CNB
