Volunteers are needed to join the ``Second Annual Port Norfolk Earth Day Clean-Up,'' to be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 22. Organizers hope for a minimum of 100 volunteers to clean the streets of litter and bulk refuse.
With 75 volunteers and help from the city, last year's event netted 233,000 pounds of trash, 5,000 pounds of appliances and 263 tires. In addition, the city's street sweeper swept 16,000 pounds of dirt from the streets.
Community groups and individuals interested in volunteering should call Deb Foytik at 397-7164 or Madalyn Grimes at 397-0090. by CNB
