Two women were injured Saturday when their car rolled over twice in downtown Norfolk after, witnesses said, it was struck in the side by another vehicle.
The women were trapped for about 15 minutes in their overturned Geo Metro before Norfolk paramedics were able to remove them. They were both taken by ambulance to area hospitals.
The Geo, witnesses said, was traveling on Duke Street at about 6:15 p.m. when it entered the intersection at Brambleton Avenue. A Dodge Shadow traveling on Brambleton entered the intersection as the Geo was going through it and slightly struck the Geo on the car's passenger side.
The Geo began rolling as it turned sideways because of the collision, witnesses said. The car stopped about 50 yards from the intersection on Duke Street.
Police did not release the names of the injured women. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
