Edward Lee Wright Sr., 84, formerly of the 1300 block of O'Keefe St., died April 13, 1995, in Virginia Beach Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Wright was a native of Norfolk. He had been a waiter at several major hotels in the area including the Cavalier and the Fairfax and he retired from the Cape Charles Ferry.
Survivors include his devoted wife of over 60 years, Rosa Baker Wright; three daughters, Willette W. Hines, Frances Wright Thomas and Odessa Wright Thompson; a son, Edward L. Wright Jr.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Clayton Davis Thompson.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John AME Church, 545 E. Bute St. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in church at 10 a.m. Thursday. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Thompson, 5720 Hendricks Drive, Virginia Beach.
