CHARLES T. SLAUGHTER JR.

Charles Thomas Slaughter Jr., 27, of the 400 block of Bullock St., died April 15, 1995, in a Suffolk hospital.

Mr. Slaughter was a native of Suffolk. He was a member of New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, Carrsville, Va., and was Minister of Music at Mt. Zion Community Church, Norfolk. He was director and founder of the C.T.S. Ensemble of Suffolk. He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and a member of its marching band. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies ``Emphasis in Music'' from Norfolk State University, Norfolk. He was a former musician for the Norfolk State Gospel Choir, New First Baptist Church Pleasant Hill, Mt. Ararat UCC, Greater Sweet Beaulah and Shiloh Baptist Church. He was also a musician for the Brother-In-Laws of Suffolk, Va.

Survivors include his parents, Charles T. and Lois A. Slaughter of Suffolk, Va.; two sisters, Joyce A. Slaughter of Baltimore, Md., and Karen Slaughter Bullock and her husband, Daniel Bullock, of Richmond, Va.; a grandmother, Rosa Smith, an adopted grandfather, Clyde Edmond, his great-great-grandmother, Rosa Steverson, all of Suffolk; one aunt, Bettie S. Smith; three uncles, the Rev. Lemuel L. Green, Clarence Slaughter and Clyde L. Edmond of Suffolk, Va.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 19, 1995, at 2 p.m. in New Mount Joy Church of God in Christ, 307 County Street, Suffolk, Va., by Elder W.P. Wiggins. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Crocker Funeral Home Chapel, 900 East Washington St., Suffolk, Va., tonight.
