The explosion - apparantly timed for just after 9 a.m., when the
workers were at their jobs - also killed and maimed people on the
street, overturned and ignited cars, heavily damaged six nearby
buildings, blew out windows for blocks around and set scores of
fires that laid a pall of black smoke over the city of 440,000 in
west-central Oklahoma.

exlposion shortly after 9 a.m. local time Wednesday.
