Walter John Henry Ott died peacefully in Virginia Beach, Va., on April 20, 1995.
Walter, a long time resident of Cincinnati, was born May 20, 1913, in Menomonee Falls, Wis. He was educated in Milwaukee, Wis., public schools, graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., in 1935, with a B.S. degree with honors in Economics, Regulation of Public Utilities. He received his law degree in 1964 from Salmon P. Chase College School of Law and was inducted into the Order of the Curia. Fraternity affiliations included Alpha Delta Phi, Deru, Delta Tay Sigma Rho and Phi Beta Kappa.
Upon graduation from Northwestern, he served in data processing and computer planning capacities with International Business Machines Corporation, until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, in which he served as a Lt.(jg) USNR in the Administrative Office, Director of Supply, U.S. Navy.
After he left the Navy, he was employed for more than 30 years with the Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company as Vice President, Systems and Methods Department. He retired in June 1978.
Mr. Ott was an active member of the Westwood First Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also served on the boards of many local charities.
Walter was married to Vera Bernice Ferguson Ott (deceased) and is survived by his daughters, Keren Pernini, Sherry Becker, Dr. Janis Joslin, and his grandchildren, Kathy Smith, David Pernini, Shannon Becker, Jenny Becker, Jessica Joslin, and his great-grandchildren, Alexander and Sean.
Walter was the ultimate example of a gentleman, whose high moral standards served as an example and inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
A private memorial service will be held for the family in Virginia Beach.
