HORTENSE S. ROYSTER

Hortense Spencer Royster, age 81, of Lilac Ave., Chesapeake, died in Chesapeake General Hospital, April 22, 1995.

Mrs. Royster was born in Norfolk County. She retired at age 75 after 58 years as a beautician. She was a member of Oaklette United Methodist Church. She was an avid bingo fan and will be missed by all of her bingo friends. She will also be missed by all of her friends she saw daily at Irwins Lunch counter. She was the widow of Elmo S. Royster and was preceded in death by her grandson, Robert S. Royster Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Joanne R. Williams and husband, Walter C. Williams of Chesapeake; two sons, Robert S. Royster Sr. and wife, Lynn, of Ahoskie, N.C. and James L. Royster and wife, Jane, of Columbia, S.C.; a brother, Francis F. Spencer and wife, Betty, of North Port, FL.; six grandchildren, Lesley Hicks, Tammy Dominesey, Scott, Chris, Greg and Elizabeth Royster; a great-grandchild, John Robert Hicks and four stepgrandchildren, Christine Dominicci, Marjorie, Patrick, and Micheal Kinney, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are handled by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Homes, Indian River Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Indian River Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Indian River Chapel by the Rev. Gene Gee of Oaklette United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family at the residence following the services.
