When President Clinton spoke in response to the Oklahoma City bombing, he promised that ``justice will be swift, certain and severe.'' What dream world does he live in?
Our criminal-justice system is a joke, or more like a soap opera. There is no swift and certain justice, only delays, appeals, lawyers looking to be on TV and witnesses waiting to write books or appear on TV talk shows.
Whoever is caught and charged with the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City will be treated to full celebrity status on American TV. Lawyers will trip over one another trying to represent the accused, and liberals will want to truly believe that in some way these people were wronged by our country or had disadvantaged childhoods, so they are the true victims.
Maybe the whole case will be thrown out of court because of a police blunder or a technicality.
Even if this bombing can be traced to another country that planned it, will Bill Clinton have the guts to make them pay? I doubt it.
When will enough be enough and we change the odds to be stacked against people or countries that do evil deeds?
