Florence Carolyn Weaver Reid, 78, of the 24100 block of Creekview Lane, died Thursday, April 27, 1995, in James River Convalescent Center, Newport News.
Mrs. Reid was a retired guidance couselor for Western Branch Junior High School, Chesapeake. She was a native of Asheville, N.C., and a member of Benn's United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir for many years. She was also a member of the Carrollton Women's Club.
Mrs. Reid was a graduate of Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, N.C., with a degree in guidance counseling.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Reid Frisk of Carrollton, and Patricia Reid Tallman of Tustin, Calif.; one sister, Sue Weaver Culberson of Asheville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Geoffery Merrial Reid Hammond and Charles David Reid Shiffer; and William Leslie Reid.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Benn's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Breeden officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, and suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, Va. 23430.
