Ida Ballance Sylvester, 94, of Colonial Home for Adults, died April 26, 1995, in her residence.
She was a native of Elizabeth City, N.C., was former owner and operator of Cradock Homemakers Guild, and a member of Cradock Baptist Church, Victory Chapter (NU)16 O.E.S., Portsmouth Travel Club and Women's Auxiliary to the Portsmouth Central Labor Union. She attended Wednesday Evening Bingo at Moose Lodge 898 and was the widow of Victor M. Sylvester.
Survivors include a son, Murray K. Sylvester of Chesapeake; a sister, Ernestine Liverman of Elizabeth City, N.C.; five grandchildren, Victoria Sylvester, Toni Gillette, Marion Sylvester, Murray Kent Sylvester Jr., and Zachary Sylvester; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today at Meadowbrook Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment to follow.
