Jessie Washington Waters, Jr., of 104 W. Byrd St., died Thursday April 27, 1995, in Pitt Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Bertie County, a member of Cashie Baptist Church, an Army Veteran of WW II, having served in the European theater with the 29th Infantry division, and a retired merchant and farmer.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 30, 1995, in Cashie Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack Byrd. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
Survivors include: Wife: Lenorma Saunders Waters, Windsor, NC; Daughter: Norma Waters Gurkin, Williamston, NC; Son: David Swain Waters, Greenville, NC; Sister, Allie W. Spivey, Windsor, NC; Grandchild: One(1); Step Grandchildren: Two(2).
The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Saturday at Walker Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be made to the Bertie County Rescue Squad or to the charity of choice.
