Promoting from within, LIN Television this week announced that WAVY's general sales manager, Edward L. Munson Jr., has been named the NBC affiliate's general manager.
Munson succeeds Lyle Banks, who is moving to Chicago to become general manager of WMAQ, an NBC affiliate in the country's third-largest TV market.
Munson will assume his new duties immediately.
Munson has been WAVY's general sales manager since 1991.
He has 17 years experience in the TV business, including positions in sales at stations in Charlotte; Louisville, Ky.; Bowling Green, Ky; and Richmond. He is a native of Louisville and a graduate of Western Kentucky University.
LIN Television Vice President Paul Karpowicz made the announcement Thursday in Portsmouth, where under Banks, WAVY's operations expanded to include the Local Weather Station on cable outlets and a programming and advertising partnership with WVBT in Virginia Beach. by CNB
