The Deep Creek High School Orchestra was one of 14 groups which participated in the Atlanta Music Festival recently held at Tri-Cities High School in Atlanta, Ga..
The 36-member orchestra performed ``The Overture To the Barber Of Seville'' by Rossini/McCleod and ``Chapter One'' by Carold Nunez.
The orchestra received three superior ratings for an overall rating of superior for the festival and first place in the orchestra competition with additional awards for an overall outstanding performance. The groups also received an award for an outstanding bass section.
The Deep Creek Orchestra has been at the school for four years. This year the full group of 53 members performed at the Virginia Music Educators Association Music Festival in Chesapeake and received three superior ratings for an overall rating of superior.
