VICE CHANCELLOR TO ADDRESS GRADS DR. ANNE-MARIE MCCARTAN WILL VISIT PAUL D. CAMP COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

Dr. Anne-Marie McCartan, vice chancellor for Academic Services and Research for the Virginia Community College System, will be the guest speaker for Paul D. Camp Community College's graduation ceremonies at 7 p.m. May 12 on the football field at the National Guard Armory, Armory Drive.

As chief academic officer for Virginia's 23 community colleges, McCartan is responsible for overseeing the approval of academic program changes at the colleges, student development services, the federal Perkins Act funds; grant services; a professional development program for faculty; research and enrollment projections; and instructional technology and distance education.

McCartan received both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in public administration at the University of Washington in Seattle. She earned a doctorate at Harvard University in 1986 and was research assistant to the president of Harvard University, where she was also an administrative assistant for the Institute of Educational Management, a module coordinator and Teaching Fellow for the Graduate School of Education.

McCartan's professional and community services include many publications, membership on the Mason Scholar Selection Committee, manuscript reviewer for the ``Review of Higher Education,'' reviewer and adviser for numerous educational associations, co-chair for the Richmond Audubon Society, and moderator for higher education panels.

She and her husband, John Accordino, have two young sons. ILLUSTRATION: Dr. Anne-Marie McCartan will be the graduation speaker.
