Mildred V. Wheatley, 76, of the 1700 block of Citadel Road, died April 30, 1995, in a local hospital.
She was a native of Monrovia, Md., and was a retired private secretary for the Washington, D.C., government's Highway Department. She was a member of the River of Life Baptist Church, Norfolk, and served on its board of directors. She was also a member of the Bromley Civic League, had attended Frederick High School, and was a graduate of the Visitation Academy.
Survivors include her former husband, Millard F. Wheatley of Culpepper, Va.; one daughter, Pamela Umberger and son-in-law, Bill, of Norfolk; one sister, Marion Stroh of Frederick, Md.; five grandchildren, Amy, Beth, Valerie, Richard and Jennifer; and one great-grandchild, Anthony.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Smith and Williams Funeral home, Norfolk Chapel, by Pastor Ronald P. Sampley. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the River of Life Church.
