Romer M. Gronbeck, 69, died Friday, April 28, 1995, in Veterans Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn.
Mr. Gronbeck retired in 1988 after 33 years of service with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Department of Interior. After his retirement from the federal government, he was employed by the State of Tennessee as an engineer in the Department of Construction Grant and Loans.
He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 82, Ex-Prisoners of War and a charter member of the 390th Bombardment Group.
He is survived by wife, Ruth Gronbeck; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Tina Gronbeck of Smyrna, Tenn., Peter and Carrie Gronbeck of Panama City, Fla., and Mary Daman of Panama City, Fla.; Frances and Larry Gillikin of Virginia Beach, Va., Romel and Dean Perry of Suffolk, Va., Paula and Marc Holbrook of Lexington, Ky., Greta and Mitch Robinette of Kingsport, Tenn., Ray Davidson of Kansas City, Mo., and Lisa Gronbeck of Nashville, Tenn.; brothers, Snorre Gronbeck of Madison, Wis., and Mauris Gronbeck of Platteville, Ill.; sister Mrs. Herdis Peters of River Forest, Ill.; 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Remains are at Ellis Funeral Home, 2627 Nolensville Road in Nashville, Tenn., where services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. with Chaplin Jimmy Smith officating. Visitation was Monday, May 1, 1995.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, The Middle Tennessee Chapter of Ex-POW's Memorial or the Ex-POW's Memorial Andersonville Fund.
