As a wife of a fireman and FEMA urban search-and-rescue team member who helped search for survivors in Oklahoma, I speak for all the other wives who anxiously waited for our men to come home safely.
We are proud of our men - men who daily put their lives in danger to save another; men whose arms have held too many small bodies that will never laugh again; selfless men who risk their lives to save a fallen comrade.
Our hearts go out to the friends and families of those innocent victims. Our gratitude to the Oklahoma community which has been so generous in helping make the team members' grim job more endurable.
May a tragedy such as this never happen again.
