EVELYN COLGATE CROWLEY

Evelyn Colgate Crowley, born in Winthrop, Mass., January 22, 1923, daughter of George and Irene Smith, died Saturday, April 29, 1995, in Virginia Beach, Va.

Mrs. Crowley lived in Virginia Beach for the past 15 years. She married John M. Colgate, U.S. Naval Aviator of Winchester, Mass., in 1946, and she was widowed in 1949. Mrs. Crowley subsequently married U.S. Naval Aviator Herbert D. Crowley of Sherborn, Mass.

Mrs. Crowley traveled extensively with her family during their Naval years living in a variety of locations in the United States, Europe, and Hawaii. She was enthusiastically involved in a variety of volunteer organizations in the Virginia Beach area.

She is survived by her children, Kevin, Peter, Deborah, and Gregory; seven grandsons; and two granddaughters.

A funeral mass will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Wellesley, Mass., Friday, May 5, at 11 a.m. Instead of flowers or other financial expressions of sympathy, the family requests donations be made to the Jesuit Urban Center, 775 Harrison Ave., Boston, Mass. 02118. A private family service will take place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington, Mass.
