Another week of eclectic music is on the way in Hampton Roads. Notable concerts kick off with Cyrus Chestnut, who's rapidly become one of his generation's most artistically and commercially formidable jazz pianists. Chestnut, who accompanied Kathleen Battle in her recent Norfolk recital, will appear tonight and Saturday to benefit of WHRO-FM and WHRV-FM in the WHRO Teleconference Center, 5200 Hampton Blvd. in Norfolk. Tickets: $12-15; to reserve, call 489-9476.
Also on Saturday, seminal punkers The Ramones compete with Bruce Hornsby's sold-out solo concert. The band's rescheduled Boathouse show begins at 9 p.m. Tickets: $12.50 advance; to order, call 671-8100. For more information, call 622-6395.
Whither Billy Ray Cyrus? Despite a reduced fan base, the ``Achy Breaky Heart'' guy scored a gold album with his recent third release, ``Storm in the Heartland.'' He kicks off a second summer of country shows at Norfolk's Naval Amphibious Base with a Sunday concert opened by Chesapeake's Mann Sisters. Gates open at noon; the music starts at 3 p.m. Tickets: $12 advance, $15 day of show; to order, call 671-8100. For more information, call 464-7905.
Alternative heavy-hitter Belly lands at the Boathouse with Polara at 8 p.m. Thursday, just six days after leader Tanya Donelly's former outfit, Throwing Muses, plays the venue. Belly tickets: $10 advance; to order, call 671-8100. For more information, call 622-6395. ILLUSTRATION: Color photos by CNB
