A story and headline in Thursday's Metro News section erred in
saying that Suffolk is the only city in the region to offer free
ambulance service. Virginia Beach does not charge for ambulance
service, which is provided by volunteer emergency medical service
squads.
A Metro News story Thursday incorrectly identified a candidate
for the Republican nomination in the 7th District state Senate race.
The candidate's correct name is Walter ``Wally'' Erb.
WTKR-TV was tied with WVEC-TV for first place in overall ratings
among Hampton Roads TV stations during the most recent Nielsen
ratings period. A story in Thursday's Business News section about
Christopher Pike, WTKR's general manager, contained outdated ratings
information.
Of the 57 government witnesses in a Norfolk federal drug trial
that ended Wednesday, 21 are serving jail terms. A story Thursday
incorrectly identified the number of witnesses serving time.
