Evelyn Ayres Powers, 86, of the 4100 block of Bonney Road, a retired cosmetic buyer, died May 6, 1995, in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Powers was born in Bedford, Va. She retired from Ames & Brownley Department Store, was the widow of Frank Frederick Powers and was a member of Haygood United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Anne P. Hopewell and Becky P. Waff, both of Virginia Beach; a sister, Nancy J. Peterson of Gainesville, Va.; a brother, Horace Ayres of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Frank Frederick Powers, Jr.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Haygood United Methodist Church by the Rev. Alan G. Reifsnyder. Burial will be private at a later date. Friends may join the family at the church after the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Haygood United Methodist Church Organ Fund. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is handling arrangements.
