ARCHITECTURAL
William G. Porter was named senior vice president with Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern Inc. in Virginia Beach. He most recently served as a vice president in charge of the firm's national capital, Tidewater, and Gulf Coast regional operations. Porter, a mechanical engineer, joined the architectural firm in 1979. He was also reappointed to its board of directors.
BANKING
Lori Imel was promoted from branch operations manager to manager at the main office of Heritage Bank & Trust in Norfolk. Imel's additional responsibilities will include loans processed and staff management. She joined Heritage in 1987.
BUSINESS BROKERAGE
Alan Cohen was named vice president with Metro Business Brokers Inc. in Virginia Beach. Cohen joined the brokerage last year as a business consultant.
ENGINEERING
Neil Hanson was appointed chief information officer with Langley and McDonald in Virginia Beach. He will be in charge of hard copy and electronic filing systems management, and the development of computer networks and integrated systems.
Hanson was an archivist and deputy director with Albany County in New York. He holds a master's degree in public administration.
McPherson & Associates in Portsmouth appointed Glenn C. Otto and Raymond P. Gessner project engineers.
Otto was with Bechtel Savannah River Inc. in North Augusta, S.C., and Gessner was with Geo Design Consultants Inc. in Virginia Beach.
HOSPITALITY
Judy Kleiber was was appointed general manager with the Welcome Inn Naval Base hotel in Norfolk. Kleiber has been with the Quality Inn, Econo Lodge and Holiday Inn for the past six years.
All the hotels are managed by Summit Properties in Virginia Beach.
MANUFACTURING
M. D. ``Dan'' Brower was promoted to general marketing manager of the specialty chemicals group super-absorbent materials business unit with Hoechst Celanese Corp. in Portsmouth. He will also develop and implement marketing strategies and coordinate with the business unit's global partners at the company.
Brower joined Hoechst in 1987 as manager of product safety, and most recently was account manager for the super-absorbent materials business unit. He holds a master's degree in occupational health.
MEDIA
Jeanne Pennington was promoted from promotion and community relations director to promotion/creative services director with WGNT-TV in Portsmouth. Pennington joined the television station in 1991 a promotion director.
MORTGAGE
Frank E. Salmon Jr., a vice president with American Home Funding Inc., will co-manage the Virginia Beach mortgage branch with Deborah A. Tomlin. Salmon was previously a sales manager. He has been with American Home since 1988.
Lisa Arrage was appointed manager with Household Finance Corp. at its Virginia Beach branch. Arrage has been with the mortgage company for two years, and most recently was an account executive in the company's Norfolk office.
MID-ATLANTIC
Chesapeake Corp. in Richmond elected J.P. Causey Jr. senior vice president, secretary and general counsel. Causey was previously vice president, secretary & general counsel.
PHP Healthcare Corp. in Reston named Jerrold J. Hercenberg senior vice president and corporate counsel of managed care. He also will serve in the key role as general counsel for PHP Healthcare's subsidiary Chartered Health Plan in the Washington, D.C., area.
Reynolds Metals Co. in Richmond elected two new corporate vice presidents: Paul S. Hayden, general manager of the recycling division and president of Reynolds Aluminum Recycling Co.; and John F. Rudin, president and general manager of Reynolds Aluminum Supply Co.
Ethyl Corp. in Richmond made the following organizational changes: Raymond C. Gudum was appointed vice president-worldwide sales and marketing for lubricant and fuel additives.
Ian A. Nimmo, an Ethyl vice president, becomes head of the company's worldwide manufacturing, purchasing and logistics activities.
Also, Newton A. Perry, an Ethyl vice president, becomes head of worldwide refinery chemicals, responsible for lead- and manganese-based anti-knock compounds as well as certain refinery fuel additives such as cetane improvers for diesel fuels.
David A Fiorenza, an Ethyl vice president, becomes head of business evaluation.
And, Wayne C. Drinkwater becomes Ethyl's controller.
ORGANIZATIONS
Michael S. Weissman was elected president-elect of the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychologists. Weissman is owner and clinical director of Churchland Psychological Center in Chesapeake. He is also an assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at the Eastern Virginia Medical School.
The Tidewater Association of Service Contractors elected Terry Murphy president for the 1995-96 year. Murphy is with Kaufman & Canoles. MEMO: Career Track reports upper-level executive and management changes. Items
