Della Eure Umphlett, 91, of Route 1, died May 6, 1995, in Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie.
A native of Gates County, she was the widow of Hagood Lilton Umphlett. She was a member of Eure Christian Church and a retired homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Malene U. Eure of Gates; two sons, Lilton Umphlett Jr. and Robert Umphlett, both of Gates; a sister, Evelyn Gwaltney of Smithfield, Va.; a brother, Paul Greene of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Harrell Funeral Home Chapel, Gatesville, by the Rev. Cecil Smith. Burial will be in Umphlett Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gates County Rescue Squad, Harrell Methodist Church or Eure Christian Church. Visitation will be today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Felton Eure.
