I am surprised at the newspaper's partisan efforts to defame Pat Robertson, playing on the emotions of people in the wake of the Oklahoma City disaster. I avidly read The New World Order and I am not planning to bomb anything! Does The Virginian-Pilot propose that all criticism of the federal government be outlawed?
I suggest that your staff members brush up on 20th-century history. If they do, they will find that Adolf Hitler seized on a similar tragedy (the Reichstag fire) to crush dissent and take control of the German government.
Furthermore, to draw a connection between a Bible-believer's concern over government control of society and the act of a malevolent paramilitary is grossly unfair. With a similar logic I should call for a ban on all teaching of evolution. After all, evolution strips human life of any intrinsic dignity and clearly promotes a philosophy that loss of human life is devoid of meaning.
If there is anyone to blame in all of this terrible calamity, do not blame American citizens (Pat Robertson or otherwise) whose only fault is their desire to bring back to our society a semblance of moral decency and Godly devotion and who deeply long for a ``new earth on which dwelleth righteousness.''
