After reading ``Right-wing catalysts?'' (Commentary, May 7), I eagerly await staff writer Alex Marshall's next article. I might suggest the topic of rape.
Mr. Marshall could explain the ``little'' bit of responsibility that Liz Claiborne bears in a woman being raped. She might be considered a catalyst in creating a sexual atmosphere by designing skirts that do not cover all of a woman's legs; therefore, she is guilty of inflaming the ``fragile mind'' (Clintonspeak) of the rapist. Once the blame game starts, it cannot stop at the politically incorrect.
Mr. Marshall neglected to mention the most notable ``achievement'' of the 1960s - the debasement of the concept of ``adulthood;'' that quaint notion that adults are capable of caring for themselves, their families and friends, and that adults are personally responsible for their own actions. The infantile logic contained in this article is more dangerous to a free society than any venom spewed by the political right and left.
