School administrators Thursday found a loaded .22-caliber handgun in a Princess Anne High School student's car.
Police said the weapon had been stolen in a burglary.
At 8:30 a.m., school officials were told a student had taken the gun to school.
The school officials took the gun from the student's car, which was parked in the school's lot, police said.
The student, who was not identified because of his age, is a 17-year-old 10th-grader, police said. He was suspended and could be expelled.
Police said the gun was stolen during a burglary Nov. 16 at a North Landing Road business.
The student has been charged with taking a gun onto school property, a felony.
