Brian J. Shannon, 48, died May 17, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
He was a native of Ruthford, Penn., and was a Master Chief Petty Officer. He attended the Little Creek Amphibious Base Catholic Chapel. He had worked in the Navy for 29 years.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann P. Shannon; two sons, Jim Shannon and Joe Shannon, both of Virginia Beach; one daughter, Jennifer Shannon of Virginia beach; one sister, Mary Morris of Waynesburg, Pa.; and three brothers, Gary M. Shannon of Cecil, Pa., Daniel Shannon of Waynesburg, Pa., and Kevin J. Shannon of Carlisle, Pa.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by Father Robert Schaller. The family will be at the funeral home today from 1 to 3 p.m. to receive friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Following services locally, the body will be sent to the Behm Funeral Home, Waynesburg, Pa., for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated Wednesday, May 24, at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church.
