ACCOUNTING
John D. Cavanaugh was named partner-in-charge of the South Hampton Roads office of Eason, Lawson & Westphal. Prior to joining the accounting firm, Cavanaugh was a partner with Price Waterhouse in Norfolk.
ENGINEERING
Ann M. Copeland was appointed a project engineer with Smith Demer Normann in Hampton. Copeland, who has a degree in civil engineering, is completing requirements for a master's degree in environmental engineering, and is scheduled to take the Virginia Professional Engineering examination this fall.
MORTGAGE
John T. Hockman was promoted to vice president with Atlantic Coast Mortgage Co. in Virginia Beach. He will be responsible for both the Virginia Beach and Newport News branch offices. Hockman has been with ACM for the past five years, and most recently served as assistant vice president.
Susan Bauman was named head of the energy efficient mortgage department with First Jefferson Mortgage Corp. in Norfolk. Bauman was previously with Ameribanc.
RETAIL
Noel Goulston was named senior vice president and general merchandise manager with Home Quarters Warehouse Inc. in Virginia Beach.
Goulston, who has been with HQ for the past 18 months, has more than 30 years experience as a career retailer. He has served in senior management positions with L.G. Cook Distributor and Erb Lumber in Michigan and WORKplace in Florida.
The chain of home improvement retailer operates 49 home improvement warehouses. HQ is a subsidiary of Hechinger Co.
Farm Fresh promoted Jeff Thomas and Steve Harmon to senior vice president positions.
Thomas will serve as vice president of operations encompassing total retail store operations. He previously was vice president and general manager of Rack & Sack and served as director of the discount division. He has been with Farm Fresh since 1981.
Harmon will serve as vice president of marketing and merchandising for all divisions of Farm Fresh. Harmon joined the company in 1982 and most recently served as vice president of marketing.
Farm Fresh in Norfolk promoted the following directors to vice president positions. They retain their areas of responsibilities. Rich Bullock (grocery, frozen food and dairy); John Cannistra (deli/bakery merchandising); Dale Faunce (meat and seafood marketing); and Al Garner (produce merchandising).
The company also promoted four managers to director positions. Ricky Green, director of consumer affairs and public relations; Rick Hoskins, director of merchandising for the Combo division; Jim Jansen, director of marketing; Monica Martin, director of sanitation and regulatory compliance; and Mike Griffith (engineering).
Also, Dave Wesloh was named vice president of non-foods. Wesloh was vice president of merchandising with Super X Drugs in Ohio.
LAW
Jonathan R. Pond was named an associate with Wilcox & Savage in Norfolk. He will practice in the areas of general corporate and securities matters. Pond is a recent graduate of the Marshall-Wythe School of Law of the College of William and Mary.
