CHESAPEAKE SCHOOLS CHANGE IS APPROVED

Deputy Superintendent W. Randolph Nichols announced on Monday night the first stage of a school administration reorganization planned for this summer, when he takes over as superintendent.

A new deputy superintendent will take Nichols' place, and a third assistant superintendent will be hired.

The School Board approved the changes unanimously.

``Any of the changes we're making here, I will commit to you, there will be no increase in administrators, nor will there be an increase in the dollars spent'' for administrators' salaries, Nichols said.

Superintendent C. Fred Bateman will retire in July. by CNB
