The Hurrah Players will present ``Showstoppers,'' a musical revue with five of the leads from Portsmouth, at 7 p.m. today, 3 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Wells Theatre in Norfolk.
``It's a full-length musical revue that features the history of the movies with a salute to Disney,'' artistic director Hugh Copeland said.
The show features the music of rock 'n' roll legends, as well as ``Tarzan,'' ``King Kong,'' ``The Lion King,'' ``Aladdin'' and ``Beauty and the Beast.''
Portsmouth students with leads in the production include Mark and Ben Gugler, Julia Wynne, Stephanie Joannou and Stephanie Tillman.
Mark Gugler, a student at Ghent Montessori School, plays the baby lion in ``The Lion King.'' His brother, Ben, who attends Churchland Middle School, does a featured tap number ``on Broadway,'' as well as a country solo.
Julia Wynne, who is home-schooled, plays the genie in ``Aladdin,'' while Stephanie Tillman, who goes to Churchland Academy, stops the show as ``Tina Turner.''
Stephanie Joannou, a student at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, performs in the ``Showstoppers'' opener and the ``Never Met A Friend'' number from ``Aladdin.''
``All of these students have solos and are featured performers,'' Copeland said.
Tickets are $11 and $9, tax included. Group rates are available. Tickets may be purchased with a Visa or Mastercard by calling 623-7418 or by visiting The Hurrah Players Box Office, 935 Woodrow Ave., Norfolk, from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
