H. Rives King, 81, of Virginia Beach, retired president of the Southlandcork Company, died May 25, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. King, a native of Portsmouth, was a member of Virginia Beach Community Chapel. He was a volunteer chaplain at the Virginia Beach City Jail for 20 years. He was an elder and Sunday School teacher at Virginia Beach Community Chapel and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Fletcher King; a daughter, Nancy King Rinick of Reedsville, Va.; a brother, the Rev. James Arthur King of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren, Robin Day Nicholas and Shoby Guy Adams; and two great-grandchildren, Kelcey Lauren Nicholas and Sarah Christie Adams.
A chapel service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Virginia Beach Community Chapel by the Rev. Larry Shoaf. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Good News Mission Jail Ministry, c/o Virginia Beach Community Chapel, or the Missionary Outreach of the Virginia Beach Community Chapel, 1261 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23451.
