Francis Robert Johnson Sr., 65, of the 900 block of Copperstone Circle, died Wednesday, May 24, 1995, in the U.S. Naval Hospital, Portsmouth.
Mr. Johnson was born in Manchester, N.H., and was the son of Catherine Sullivan Johnson of Manchester, N.H., and the late Arvid Johnson. He was retired from the U.S. Army as a chief warrant officer (NU)4 after serving 42 years and also retired as a civil service GS-12, future concepts analyst.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, former member of The Knights of Columbus and was also a member of AARP.
Other survivors include his wife, Dagmar Saray Johnson of Chesapeake; three daughters, Sandra Johnson Ralphs of Charlottesville, Va., Brigitta I. Johnson of Chesapeake and Dagmar Johnson of Hatfield, Pa.; three sons, Michael P. Johnson of Fairless Hills, Pa., Francis Robert Johnson Jr. of Chesapeake and Thomas Donald Johnson of Atlanta, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Christian Haydinger. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge. Burial will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Arlington National Cemetery with military honors. There will no public viewing until Tuesday.
