Roland Chambliss, of the 600 block of Gardner St., died May 27, 1995, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin, after a long illness.
Mr. Chambliss was a native of Franklin, a retired reconditioning mechanic from Blake Ford, a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Franklin, the usher board, and was a volunteer custodian.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 53 years, Henrietta T. Chambliss; two daughters, Rhonda Chambliss-Baxter and Rolanda C. Rose of Franklin; three sisters, Onie Barnes, Bertha Harris and Corine Jones of Franklin; a brother, Willie Chambliss of Bamberg, S.C.; a son-in-law, William H. Rose, a former son-in-law, John H. Baxter, Jr.; three grandchildren, Ronsae Rose-Gatling, Billy Rose, and Joronda Baxter; one great-grandchild, Reonna Rose; three brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in New Hope Baptist Church, the Rev. A.L. Goodwyn, Sr., presiding. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Arrangements by William M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home. Remains will be viewed in the church from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
