Rachel Early Smallwood, 66, of the 100 block of S. Queen St., died Monday, May 29, 1995.
She was a native of Bertie County, a member of Windsor United Methodist Church and a retired operating room registred nurse after 15 years of service at Bertie Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lacy M. and Kathleen Harrell Early.
Survivors include a brother, Cary M. Early of Norfolk; nieces, Elizabeth E. Lee of Virginia Beach and Susan E. Salsberry of Summit, N.J.; great-nieces, Kristin B. Salsberry of Summit and Kathleen E. Lee of Virginia Beach; great-nephew, Thomas H. Lee Jr. of Virginia Beach; and special friend, Edward C. Warren of Windsor.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Windsor United Methodist Church by the Rev. Clyde Denny. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Bertie County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 74, Windsor, N.C. 27983. The family will receive friends at 109 S. Queen St. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
