ELIZABETH B. RODGERS

Elizabeth C. ``Sister'' Benton Rodgers, 78, of the 900 block of Bold St., died May 28, 1995, in Maryview Hospital.

She was born in Norfolk County and was the widow of Maurice Rodgers Sr. She was a member of St. Paul AME Church, Portsmouth; treasurer of Senior Ushers; secretary of Missionaries; secretary of Pastor's Aide; secretary of Stewardess Board; treasurer of Laymen; and member of Class (NU)5. She was also a member of Cavalier Manor Senior Citizens Group and United Order of Tents (NU)633.

Survivors include five daughters, Judy Mack and Jacqueline Powell, both of Portsmouth, Linda E. Shelton of Chesapeake, Cynthia Joyner of Springfield, Va., and Dorothy Thompson of Joliet, Ill.; three sons, Maurice Rodgers Jr. and Fred Rodgers, both of Portsmouth and Army Sgt. Richard Rodgers of North Carolina; a sister, Mildred Hardy of Portsmouth; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Paul AME Church by the Rev. Charles L. Harvin. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in Corprew Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at noon Friday.
