VAN ACCIDENT LEADS TO DEATHS

A man who was seriously injured Sunday afternoon after he and a companion were hit by a van, died Tuesday at Riverside Regional Medical Center, state police spokeswoman Tammy Van Dame said.

Steven Coles, 38, of Yorktown, was riding with Ernest Louden on trail bikes on U.S. Route 17 South near the intersection of Harris Grove Lane when they were hit by a van, Van Dame said.

Louden, 45, also of Yorktown, died Sunday at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

The driver of the van, 28-year-old Margaret West of Gloucester, was charged with reckless driving, Van Dame said.
