Sidney M. Oman has been placed in the U.S. Mayors Hall of Fame in Englewood, N.J. Oman has been mayor of two different cities in two different states.
Oman was a three-term mayor of the city of Chesapeake and within 15 months became mayor of Elizabeth City, N.C. Beside his local and state duties, he served on several committees with the U.S. Conference of
Mayors and the National League of Cities. He continues to be active in community activities, hosting a television show, is owner and operator of a funeral home and in June will become vice president of the Virginia Funeral Directors Association. ILLUSTRATION: Oman
