A 19-year-old man was shot and killed late Wednesday near the intersection of Effingham and Duke streets.
James B. Dildy of 2301 Green St. was pronounced dead at the scene when police responded shortly before 11 p.m.
Witnesses said that Dildy and another man were standing at the intersection when shots were fired from the 800 block of Duke St. Dildy was struck several times.
G.A. Brown, spokesman for the Portsmouth Police Department, said that no motive or suspects had been found Thursday afternoon.
