Scott & Stringfellow Inc. has opened a branch office at 1080 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach. Lawrence E. Waters, a first vice president and director with the brokerage firm, will manage the new branch. It will operate as a satellite location for the firm's Norfolk office.

ACQUISITIONS

Virginia Mortgage Corp. has been acquired by Jean Thatcher and moved to Haygood Executive Park, Building 3, in Virginia Beach. Thatcher owns and manages the mortgage company.

RELOCATIONS

Lazer Sharp computer systems has moved from Aragona Boulevard to 413 Davis St., Suite 107 in Virginia Beach.

Abbott & Stone Inc., a litigation support firm, has moved from Granby Street to the World Trade Center, Suite 485 in Norfolk.

BANKRUPTCIES

Bankruptcies filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Norfolk:

Francis Lee Parks Jr., real estate partnership, 3692 Associates and MHWY Associates, filed Chapter 7 liquidation on May 26, with assets of $226,983.99 and liabilities of $3,065,826.65.

Lawrence Vernon Greene and Sherry Sherrill Greene, Sandbridge Market Inc. filed Chapter 7 liquidation on May 26, with assets of $173,970 and liabilities of $2,366,026.79.

Richie W. Minton, trading as Advanced Building Technologies, filed Chapter 7 liquidation on May 26, with assets of $17,210 and liabilities of $34,179.

Stephen D. Willis Sr., initially trading as Willis' Laundromats and formerly trading as C&S Associates, filed Chapter 13 debt repayment plan on May 26. Assets and liabilities were not available.

CONTRACTS

Mid-Eastern Builders Inc. in Chesapeake received a $2 million contract from the Navy for roofing and siding replacement on building 172 at the Norfolk Naval Station in Portsmouth. Mid-Eastern also received a $729,700 contract from the Navy to replace sewer lift station LF-4 at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk.

O.K. James Construction Inc. in Williamsburg received a $9.8 million contract from the Williamsburg/James City Schools for alterations of the Lafayette High School, Phase 1.

Hoy Construction Inc. in Norfolk received a $3.3 million contract from the Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority for New Lassiter Courts, a 56-unit apartments.
