LEODICE G. HAMMOND

Leodice Glen Hammond, 68, a resident of Wakefield, died on Sunday, June 4, 1995, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg.

Mr. Hammond was born in Allindale, W.Va., the son of the late George and Lola Spark Hammond. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Masonic Palestine Lodge (NU)78 in Marysville, Ohio. He was a member of Wakefield Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Gray Hammond; a daughter, Teresa V. Hammond of Wakefield; four sisters, Lena Mullens of Elkview, W.Va., Lovie Barnett of Calvert City, Ky., Vernice Taranovich of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Juanita Kelley of Columbus, Ohio; and a brother, Elliott Hammond of Julian, W.Va.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. Edward Griffin. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad or to the American Lung Association.
